Unusual carved miniature drake mallard decoy with keel. Great form. Original paint with wear, as shown. Old break on neck has been securely reset and could easily be touched up. Approx. 7″ L x 3″ W x 4″ H. Possibly a salesman’s sample given the attention to detail (e.g. – hole in keel for anchor line). There is a signature on the bottom which we cannot decipher and a printed number, (CG-3)
$125
Early northern pike fish spearing decoy from Drummond island, Michigan. Punched and painted design with traces of original paint. Original tin fins and inset weights for balance. Curved tail to provide better action when jigged. Possibly Native American made. Obviously a working decoy, circa 1920′s. 9 1/2″ long. (BY-6)
Finely carved turtle ice fishing decoy. Has inset lead weight in base and bead eyes. There is a hole in the top of the shell which undoubtedly had a wire loop attachment for a line which connected to a jigging pole. The decoy was used to attract large fish which were then speared by the fisherman. This decoy is signed “Gary Eagle” on the base. We have been unable to find anything about him, but suspect he is or was a Native American ice fisherman from Michigan, Minnesota or Wisconsin. 8″L x 4 1/2″ W. (CG-29)
