- Group of 9 carved Black Forest
figures of male and female burghers, consisting of two hausfraus
and seven men. The men include several displaying their large
bellies contentedly, an accordion player, a bearded hunter and
two smaller figures, one holding what appears to be a shot glass.
The hausfraus (housewives) appear to be holding scarves and the
accordion player appears to be singing. They seem a most convivial
group. We've owned and sold a fair number of Black Forest carvings
and haven't seen a similar grouping. All appear to be in very
good original condition. Circa probably early 20th century and
of Swiss or German origin. (CP-34)
