- Gentleman's cane with a very
unusual carving of a leaping dog on the handle. This item had
a single glass eye in one socket which didn't fit and obviously
wasn't original when we purchased it. We removed it and placed
matching glass eyes in the sockets. Otherwise the cane and carving
is all original and obviously quite early, probably dating to
the 18th or 19th century. Wonderful carving well integrated to
the shape of the handle. Origin unknown. It was part of a collection
of American canes, but could be Eastern European or Oriental.
- Truly unique. 33"
long and handle extends 8" from handle to tip of dog's nose.
