Early Percussion Pistol

Early 1800's percussion pistol. Guns using percussion caps were invented in 1814 and manufactured beginning in 1820. They were widely used by both sides throughout the Civil War. This pistol probably dates to 1830-60. It has interesting decorations, including inlaid bone diamonds and silver pins in the handle and great gold painted artwork along the barrel. We had to replace much of the surface of one of the bone diamonds, but it is otherwise all original. It displays beautifully on the wall. Found in Maine. (CP-3)
