Small hardwood
carving of a flying seagull with minor touch up to scrapes on
wings and addition to an old metal piece that was extended below
the breast to simulate feet. Half body with newer looking brass
hanger on back which appears to be secured with square nails!
We believe this is an early carving, probably dating to the early
20th century. Hard to tell whether the brownish areas on the
head and flank is paint or simply dirt from handling, although
it resisted cleaning. In either event, it provides a great effect.
No losses or structural damage. 4 ¾" L x 5 ½"
