- Very fine oil on canvas of
waterfalls and a person who might be a fisherman by Ambrose Andrews,
signed by him and dated 1851. Andrews was an itinerant
artist who painted throughout many parts of the United States
in the early to mid 1800s. He was active in New York State
after 1844 and this painting was almost certainly done there
although the specific location is unknown. His work is
on display in the collection of the New York Historical Society.
Frame is of the period but probably not original. Outer
dimensions are 20 1/2" wide by 12 1/2" high. Sight
area 15 1/2" wide by 7 3/4" high. All original.
